Gambling and Sheep!

This past week was an eventful one with regard to adding things to my “Now I can say I have…” list for my 50th rotation around the sun!

I knew when I came up with this idea that I’d want to ask Christina to take me to a casino. She obliged and on Marathon Monday, she drove me, Amanda and Donna to Encore casino. It was bright and colorful, and pretty calm since it wasn’t a weekend night.

We sat at one table, I think paying Black Jack? Then we made our way around to some of the “penny slot” machines. They were so confusing, I definitely felt ignorant! They were not the penny slot machines I thought I would see where you put money in, yank a lever and three windows spin, giving you money if the pictures matched. Nope! There were rules and fine print. It’s a two cent game, except to play you have to buy points and each point is two cents and you need 60, 80, or 100 points to play said game.

My inexperienced head was spinning! Amanda and I agreed that we were glad we didn’t feel we have a knack for it or a gambling itch. Christina generously gifted me some gambling money and I’m glad to say I was able to return all but $3 of it! It was fun to check out and we enjoyed a lovely Greek meal afterwards!

Not one week later, I joined Sarah and Ben for the Sheep Shearing Festival at Gore Place in Waltham. I’d never seen a sheep shorn before! The people watching was fascinating, snacks delicious and the company a delight. I highly recommend checking something similar out if you have the chance!
